FILM PRODUCTION
OceanGate’s mission is to open the oceans to those inspired by deep-sea discovery. Filmmakers play a key role in this effort by capturing powerful images and telling inspiring stories. We offer a number of different means to collaborate with production teams.

Underwater Filming Platform
Our primary submarine, Antipodes, is a unique underwater filming platform, essentially performing as a very large pressure vessel for cameras, equipment, crew, and talent. Her two 58” acrylic domes provide an expanded field of view into the marine environment, and her extended hull is certified to carry a pilot and crew of four to a depth of 936 feet. Our dedicated operations team and skilled pilots ensure the ultimate success of every underwater film project.
- Great views – two 58” hemispherical acrylic domes offer a wide field of view and a variety of camera angles from both ends of the submarine.
- Large interior – can accommodate director, camera operator, cinematographer, talent, cameras and equipment for a productive and collaborative environment.
- Highly Maneuverable – six thrusters allow our pilot to position Antipodes for the perfect shot.
- Portable – Antipodes can be transported to nearly anywhere in the world and operate from a shore side base or a variety of support vessels.
- Lighting – permanent and temporary lighting can be modified to accommodate for nearly any project.
Global Researcher Network
We maintain strong relationships with a global network of leading marine researchers in a variety of disciplines, including marine biology, oceanography, archeology, and geography. We can leverage this network support film projects, whether as sources of creative ideas, expert consultants, or on-screen talent.
Documentary Film Projects
We work with a number of researchers, foundations, agencies, organizations, and executive producers to create educational underwater content for broadcast, cable, theater, web, and other media outlets. These projects provide filmmakers with unique opportunities to showcase talents and create new revenue streams.
Financial Support
OceanGate can help finance film projects by connecting filmmakers with alternative funding sources. These non-traditional options may include partnering with marine researchers to help subsidize a project and provide a way to complete film projects that could not otherwise be funded.
