Submarine expeditions to the world's oceans

Exploration and discovery.
OceanGate owns and operates manned and unmanned submersibles for exploring the world's oceans. Our mission is to open the oceans to those inspired by deep-sea discovery and help advance humanity's understanding of the marine environment. OceanGate expeditions support the work of explorers and experts devoted to discovering, understanding and preserving the world’s marine habitat and artifacts.

The oceans are critical to the planet’s well-being.
The oceans cover 75% of the Earth’s surface and account for over 98% of the habitable environment. They are home to most animal species, provide us with a vast supply of food and resources, and play a vital role in global environmental and climate mechanics.

Most of the planet’s ocean environment remains unexplored.

  • Less than 1% of the marine environment has been studied.
  • Less than 5% of the ocean floor has been mapped.
  • We have better maps of the surface of the moon than we do of the ocean floor.
  • Many more people have been to space than have ventured below 18,000 feet in the ocean (which is only half of its deepest point).
  • Because of limited ocean exploration, large portions of the public remain uninformed about the need to better appreciate this precious resource.
Exploring the mysteries of the deep in a manned submersible to advance our understanding of the oceans. OceanGate was founded with a mission to Open the Oceans to those inspired by deep-sea discovery. Charter our submersibles for scientific observation and undersea research. Charter Antipodes as a unique underwater filming platform for documentary and other film making needs.

I have found the world beneath the sea to be one of the most exotic and magical places on Earth. For me, divig is a unique experience that quenches my thirst for adventure and discovery. OceanGate showed me a depth of the ocean that few people have ever seen.
