RESEARCH SUPPORT

OceanGate's mission is to open the world's unexplored oceans to those inspired by deep-sea discovery, and we focus those efforts by actively supporting your valuable ocean science research. We offer a number of different means to collaborate with you and your research team.

To discuss your specific mission needs, please contact science@oceangatellc.com

Citizen Scientist Expeditions

We organize ocean expeditions that offer non-scientists the opportunity to become "citizen scientists" by providing them training and education so they can actively participate on the OceanGate operations team. In this way, they help underwrite your ship time. We work with you to customize an expedition that meets your field research needs, and then we create a framework that allows you to achieve your data and sample collection objectives while also interacting with our citizen scientists. This model serves at least two primary purposes: it affords you a first-hand opportunity to promote your research projects with influential members of the general public; and it guarantees you highly subsidized ship time and access to leading-edge technologies for your field research.

Documentary Film Projects

We work with a number of producers, distributors, and funders to create educational underwater content for broadcast, cable, theater, Web, and other media outlets. These projects can help promote your scientific research while also providing opportunities for subsidized ship time.

Field Research Charters

If you have funding for your field research but lack access to the proper equipment, we make all of our technologies and operations personnel available for you to charter on a flexible basis that is much more cost-effective than buying and operating your own gear. Based on your feedback, we continue to grow our inventory of equipment, and we can acquire almost anything else you need. Our entire operation is highly mobile, so we can support your project just about anywhere in the world.

OceanGate Foundation

In order to provide you with additional financial support, we are establishing the OceanGate Foundation, a non-profit organization that funds ocean science research, education, outreach, and technology development. The Foundation can be an alternative source of funding for your projects that do not fit our other models or for your budget items not related to field research. In this way, we hope to provide you with a full solution to your research needs.
