MARINE RESEARCH

OceanGate’s mission is to open the world’s unexplored oceans to those inspired by deep-sea discovery, and we focus those efforts by actively supporting valuable ocean science research. We offer a number of different means to collaborate with research teams.

Dive Sharing

Because Antipodes can carry four people in addition to the pilot, we often have opportunities for dives to be shared and serve multiple needs. For example, two researchers during our 2010 Catalina Expedition planned to share multiple dives to explore the same locations for two different research projects. In other cases, having researchers and filmmakers in the submarine at the same time allowed each one to achieve their objectives while sharing ship time. This approach provides highly subsidized ship time and access to leading-edge technologies for field research.

Documentary Film Projects

We work with a number of producers, distributors, and funders to create educational underwater content for broadcast, cable, theater, web, and other media outlets. These projects can help promote scientific research while also providing opportunities for subsidized ship time.

Field Research Charters

For researchers that have funding for field research, but lack access to the proper equipment, we make our technologies and operations personnel available on a flexible charter basis that is more costeffective and efficient than buying and operating equipment. Based on researcher feedback, we continue to grow our inventory of research equipment, and can adapt our electrical components and mounts to accept most research tools. Our entire operation is highly mobile, so we can support projects just about anywhere in the world.
