Shore-Based ROV Missions

SB101 - Alaskan Way Seawall

With help from University of Washington researchers, the Seattle Department of Transportation is investigating ways to build a seawall that supports local marine life, especially salmon. OceanGate is adding to this study by providing video investigations of the marine life surrounding the Alaskan Way Seawall. Located along the beautiful downtown Seattle waterfront, the wall was built between 1916 and 1934 to provide better access to the shipping piers. Over time, the seawall has eroded and needs to be replaced. Join OceanGate as we conduct underwater surveys for marine life using our ROVs.

Boat-Based ROV Missions

BB101 - Lake Union Shipwreck

Explore a mysterious shipwreck in Lake Union. Learn how to navigate to a wreck using sonar. Team up with OceanGate as we use ROVs to explore the wreck from bow to stern in order to reveal this ship's mysterious past.

$1500 per person

BB102 - Shilshole Barges and the Wreck of “Omar”

In Shilshole Bay, three underwater wrecks lay conveniently close together just south/west of the marina serving as home to abundant sea life, including plumose anemones, rockfish, seastars, and sculpin. The wrecks include two barges that sunk while moored there sometime in the last 50 years. One of the barges provides a unique underwater image as it sits on its port side from 90 to 50 feet of water. The third is the wood-hulled “Omar,” employed as a tugboat from 1918 until it sank in 1995. Test your species identification skills with OceanGate as we survey the wrecks for marine life using our ROVs.

$1500 per person

BB201 - Lake Washington PB4Y Bomber

In 1956, a WWII Navy bomber crashed into Lake Washington shortly after take-off. The crew escaped safely, but the bomber was lost to the depths of Lake Washington. It now sits remarkably well-preserved in about 160 feet of water. Be a part of OceanGate’s search team as we use sonar and our ROVs to explore this artifact of American history.

$2500 per person
