Alaska Way Seawall

In January 2008, as a result of studies into replacing the aging Seattle seawall, a collaborative effort was begun between the City of Seattle, Washington Sea Grant, and the University of Washington. At three seaward locations along Alaskan Way, custom, fabricated habitat enhancement panels were lowered into position on the face of the seawall.

OceanGate provided ROV equipment and expertise to researchers who examined which modifications have the potential to enhance the biodiversity in the vertical intertidal area of Elliott Bay, with a special focus on benefits for Puget Sound endangered Chinook Salmon.
